Neuromuscular Therapy (NMT)
This is a very specific type of bodywork in which individual muscles and groups of muscles are thoroughly treated from their origin to insertion. This soft-tissue approach deals with chronic pain and assists in bringing balance to the musculoskeletal system and the nervous system. Various physiological factors (such as nerve compression, trigger points, postural issues, etc.) will be addressed as they may create or intensify pain patterns.
NMT techniques can be utilized to treat numerous soft tissue conditions. Some of the conditions that can benefit from NMT: Carpal Tunnel Syndrome, Headaches and/or Migraines, TMJD (Temporomandibular Joint Dysfunction), Plantar Fasciitis, IT Band Syndrome, Piriformis syndrome, Rotator Cuff Issues, Whiplash, and many more!
Swedish
Swedish techniques are great for inducing relaxation, reducing stress, and improving blood flow and joint mobility. This is the typical foundation for massage techniques. Pressure is usually light to medium as the tissue is warmed and being prepared for deeper work (if the client so chooses). A full body Swedish massage is great for those just looking to relax or those who are recovering or in recovery from various conditions or illnesses (cancer, joint pain, pregnant woman, nervous system conditions, etc.)
Deep Tissue & Myofascial Release
This approach to soft-tissue incorporates deeper pressure and usually involves working more slowly to focus on tense areas with the goal of stretching out taught tissue, working out knots, tension, and trigger points. I'll work through the layers of muscle and work deeper as the tissue lets me in. The depth of pressure is dependent upon your comfort level. Deeper work does not always involve pain or discomfort but it may be slightly uncomfortable for a time. My goal is to work with you at a level where your body is still in a relaxed state yet get results in our work. (If you’re tensing up, we’re not accomplishing anything). I’ll work with you on your preference of depth and pressure.
Sports Massage
This session incorporates massage techniques that are specific to the athlete's sport. Sessions can be full body or we may just focus on areas of the body that are used, overused and/or injured from repetitive and aggressive movements. Active and passive movements, joint mobilization, etc may be incorporated into the session. Usually this session involves warming up of the tissues with deep tissue and NMT work.
